Can I get federal student aid while i live in subsidized housing?

Probably not. For one thing, the federal government limits ALL students’ ability to receive section 8 housing unless they meet certain exceptions, such as having a disability or living with parents who are otherwise eligible for public housing. [2921] In addition, financial assistance — including federal student aid — that exceeds the cost of tuition is considered income for purposes of evaluating a person’s eligibility for subsidized housing.[2922] The amount of aid you receive may place you outside of the income bracket necessary for section 8 homes.
