Will getting government healthcare coverage affect my immigration status?
No. In general, taking advantage of government health care programs — whether at the federal, state, or county level — should not impact your immigration status or your ability to apply for a green card.[3489] In addition, if you are undocumented and disclose your immigration status while applying for California health insurance, ICE cannot use that information against you or initiate deportation proceedings.[3490]
