Once I am receiving Tribal TANF benfits, what rules must I follow?

To keep getting Tribal TANF benefits, you must meet the requirements set by your Tribal TANF office. General requirements include that your family income stay under the income limit, satisfaction of minimum work participation requirements, and reporting changes to your income and living situation.

Work participation hours may be met by doing a variety of activities authorized by your Tribal TANF office. These activities may include public or tribal employment, job skills training, community service, secondary and post-secondary education, and workshops. Tribes have the flexibility to establish their own allowable work activities, including culturally-relevant activities such as fishing, hunting, and beadwork. Additionally, you should inquire of TANF as to whether or not your tribe has any special job training funds that you can access, including educational funding.
