I am a noncitizen. Can I get healthcare in California?

Yes. Lawfully present noncitizens and undocumented people can both apply for healthcare through Covered California, which also screens for Medi-Cal eligibility. Only lawfully present people can purchase coverage through Covered California, and applicants are required to show proof of lawful presence. While undocumented people cannot purchase healthcare through Covered California, they may still be eligible for healthcare through Medi-Cal.[3486] They may also be eligible for healthcare under a county program.
