If I am on federal parole, why do I report to a U.S. probation officer?

Federal U.S. Probation offices and officers are responsible for overseeing and administering federal parole.[1020] U.S. Probation Officers provide parole services as request of the USPC. Thus, U.S. probation officers function as parole officers and supervise people on federal parole and mandatory release.[1021]
