Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI)
NOTES RELATED TO ELIGIBILITY FOR OTHER BENEFITS:
If you get SSDI, after your 24th month of benefits you’ll be automatically enrolled in Medicare (see PG. 471).If you get SSDI, benefits may also be available to certain family members, including: (1) your spouse, if he/she is age 62 or older, or caring for your child who is under 16 and has a disability; and (2) your unmarried child, if he/she is under age 18, or age 18 or older and has a disability that started before age 22 (see PG. 482).Depending on your work history, you may also be eligible for Social Security retirement benefits (see PG. 478).Depending on how much income and resources you have, you may also be eligible for SSI (see PG. 486).
